To Our Philanthropists, We Say Thank You!

Philanthropists.jpg

Look in the mirror—that’s where we find our philanthropists and our partners. To build a strong Jewish community we need you and our community needs us. Together we create a vision of helping people in need and a plan for investing in the types of programs and services that inspire us all to lead more meaningful Jewish lives.

Your gift to Jewish for Good goes beyond funding any single program or building.

Your gift helps in many different ways.

  • Each year our Annual Mitzvah Day brings together over 550 volunteers to work on 30 projects around our community, including beautifying parks, feeding the hungry, thanking public servants, and bringing holiday cheer to older people, families with sick children, and families in shelters. PJ Library Family Mitzvah Day and Community Midrasha’s Martin Luther King Day day of service provide young families and teens opportunities to come together over shared values of tikkun olam (repairing the world).

  • Inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities and their families have grown, including Jewish Disability Inclusion and Awareness Month Art Show, adaptive sports programs, fitness, aquatics, Inclusion Havdalah programs, and more. The Inclusion program at Camp Shelanu serves over 50 children during the summer and at School’s Out Camps year-round and make up over 10% of campers each week.

  • Our Helping Department brings together approximately 40 seniors in our community to participate in our monthly Chaverim program. They enjoy good conversation and a delicious meal together.

  • Annually over 115 individuals with memory loss or a memory disorder and their loved ones are helped through our memory programming.

  • Through the Shabbat Outreach program we reach approximately 25-30 frail, Jewish seniors living at congregate facilities each Friday night.

  • The Food Pantry helps approximately 50 families per month in need of non-perishable food, fresh produce, and hygiene supplies.

  • 300+ community members at the Israel Center’s Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebration.

  • Hundreds of community members attended the Annual Jewish Food Festival in 2022, enjoying all their favorite Jewish eats while raising funds to address food insecurity.

  • Camp Shelanu expanded from a summer-only camp to supporting families with School’s Out Camps and Kids’ Night Out camps year-round. Camp Shelanu School’s Out was attended by over 450 campers. The camp scholarship program expanded to serve more children and we awarded $15,000 in scholarships to campers with financial need and children of veterans.

  • Adult cultural programming includes Men’s and Women’s Group meetings for seniors, book groups, cooking, dance, and art classes, film screenings, speakers, and more. Hundreds of community members engage in adult cultural programming.

  • The sale of over 6,000 loaves of J Cafe challah annually that assisted community members in preparing for Shabbat celebrations.

  • Programs for young families have expanded, including bringing PJ Library to our community, which, along with community partners Beth El Synagogue, Kehillah Synagogue, Judea Reform Congregation, and the Lerner Jewish Community Day School, provides Jewish books to over 700 young children. Weekly storytime and Tot Shabbat as well as Tunes and Tots parent/child music class are enjoyed by over 80 families with babies and toddlers each week.
