Annual Mitzvah Day

Friday, December 25, 2009

Mitzvah Day Registration Closes Tuesday, December 22, 2009

The Jewish Federation, Jewish Family Services, the JCC and the Jewish Community Foundation join with the Jewish organizations of Durham and Chapel Hill to spread the spirit of the holidays and good will throughout our community.

Mitzvah Day is an opportunity for members of the Jewish Community to build and strengthen our relationships with the broader community. We will work together to staff shelters, hospitals and food banks. Families that cannot participate in the efforts on December 25 are invited to help by contributing to a toy drive, food drive or coat drive, proceeds of which will be delivered to needy families in the area.

Mitzvah Day thank you from Chapel Hill Police Department

December 29, 2008

On behalf of the officers from the Chapel Hill Police Department, I would like to thank you for the excellent meal that you graciously prepared for us on Christmas Day. The food was exceptional and very much appreciated by the officers who worked that afternoon and evening. Equally appreciated was your kindness and willingness to share your time, cooking talents and fellowship with us during this holiday season.

Most Respectfully,

Lieutenant Milton G. Durham

Chapel Hill Police Department

Mitzvah Day thank you from Durham Literacy Center

January 5, 2009

On behalf of the board and staff at the Durham Literacy Center, I would like to thank you and your organization for the cleaning work done at our offices over the holidays. As a small non-profit organization and with only one part time administrative staff person, it had proven difficult to organize the office after retrieving the last of our things from our previous offices and clearing out what was left behind by our officemate. With the help of your organization, our space is better organized and clean.

The job that was done was fantastic and we appreciate all of the hard work put in by the volunteers.

Again, thank you and the DLC wishes you the best in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Reginald Hodges
Executive Director
