Who Are We?

The Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish Federation serves over 3000 Jewish families representing more than 6000 Jews throughout Durham, Orange, Chatham, Person and Alamance counties.

The Federation membership includes men and women, young and old, synagogue affiliated and unaffiliated. It is the “central address” of the Jewish community, charged with representing our community to the larger community, welcoming new residents, and providing communications to all members and affiliated groups. We provide an integral, meaningful role in the lives of individuals, families, groups and institutions through cultural, recreational, social and educational programs and activities.

As the convener for the Durham-Chapel Hill Jewish community, Federation is an umbrella organization raising support for more than 50 Not-for-Profit organizations. Every year we mobilize the community to raise the crucial funds that bring food, health care, education and emergency assistance to discouraged people in our community and to the millions of Jews in Israel and around the world. We are active in Darfur, we support disaster relief efforts, and we are helping victims of terror around the globe.

Our Partners are a special group of businesses who support the Federation’s philanthropic and community programs that allow us to make important progress in human services.
