Not Your Childhood Favorites

Sunday, October 13, 6:00pm

Host Jill Madsen

Join me as I put some of our childhood favorites to shame!  We will enjoy gourmet mac and cheese with a kick, served with delicious seasonal greens.  Following this, you will be able to enjoy a flourless chocolate roll cake with berries (remake of a swiss cake roll), chocolate peanut butter truffles (remake of nutty bars), and my very own oatmeal cream pies.  All of this will take place under the stars, next to fire pit and pool side.

$36 per person, 20 guests, casual attire

Attending this event supports one weeks’ worth of essential supplies from our JFS Food Pantry for a family in need.  This includes key staples, fresh produce, and needed hygiene supplies, ensuring basic needs are met.

Tapas Feast

Saturday, October 19, 2019, 5:30pm

Gather under the bamboo boughs of our sukkah on the edge of a rolling pasture.  Watch the sunset as we enjoy a tapas feast including Andalusian gazpacho with garlic croutons, grilled fish and an assortment of vegetarian tapas.  Spanish wine pairings throughout the meal.  You’ll want to save room for dessert, rustic pie with seasonal fruit and mini Chocolate soufflé’s.

$118 per person, 8 guests, casual attire

Attending this event supports the Federation in offering needed inclusion supports so a child with a disability can fully participate in Camp Shelanu – for fun, for friends, forever.

Smoke and Sukkah

Sunday, October 20, 7:00pm

Hosts Sue Engoto and Morris Wallack

Join Sue Egnoto and Morris Wallack on their recently expanded outdoor deck in historic Morehead Hill/Durham for a wonderful evening of great food and the spirit of Sukkot under the trees. This year’s theme of “Smoke and Sukkot” will feature appetizers of house-smoked trout and salmon, and smoked chicken and brisket for dinner, accompanied by wonderful side dishes and white and red wines to match. Everyone who attends will go home with a vacuum-packed piece of salmon; marinated in dark rum, dry cured in brown sugar and salt and smoked to perfection on Alder wood. It’s sure to be an evening of tastes to remember with great company!

$72 per person, 18 guests, casual attire

Attending this event underwrites our weekly Shabbat Outreach program; bringing the Shabbat experience to our local congregate living facilities for older adults.
